Welcome Ward 4 Voters!

2010 Windsor Municipal Election               Vote Mike Burton on Oct. 25th!

I am asking for your Ward 4 vote on October 25th. Furthermore, I ask that you review my positions and provide me with feedback about your concerns relating to both Windsor City-wide issues and Ward 4 election issues. I will respond within 24 hours.

I believe that the issues of high property taxes and local job creation initiatives are the two most important matters to be addressed.

I will not support any tax increases in the next 4 years!

Ward 4 needs a team player; the time for the ‘maverick’ approach is long past.  We need someone who has the respect of all Council members, someone who can work with others to confront our challenges and spot our opportunities. This I can do.

Ward 4 will only have one representative so your selection is critical.

This Windsor Municipal Election 2010 is the time to elect me, a person with a plan to stimulate economic growth in Windsor.

About seven years ago, my wife Carolyn and I met the challenge to turn around a non-profit entity called Ten Friends Diner located at 4141 Tecumseh Rd. E. I have been past Chairman and am now the advisor to the Board of Directors. Ten Friends is a restaurant employing folks who have suffered setbacks due to mental health issues. The program helps them to adjust to life back in the mainstream.

JOBS MUST BE PRESERVED!

In a presentation to City Council on August 23, Mike Burton called for a significant reduction in annual business licence fees and patio fees for the next two years. Burton spoke with local restaurants on “Via Italia” and Ottawa. A fee of $5,000 convinced some owners to keep their patios closed this season.
“That means the city loses revenue, the restaurants lose business and jobs go unfilled for the season.” Burton says “nobody wins, we lose jobs and with the current local economy this means small businesses struggle just to stay open.”
